Family ~ Rathbun

Every year I to get to shoot these girls for their Christmas card. Most of the time their parents are in it too but this year last minute scheduling didn't quite work out so it was just the two of them. It was absolutely freezing outside so we went to their Nana's house and shot in her comfy gold chair and by the fireplace Papa built. The minute they walked in the door they ran to the chair and gave me those smiles. Either they just love having their photos done when they're all dolled up by their stylist mommy or they were excited about going out to dinner and a movie after. I'd like to think a little of both. 

Family ~ Cienfuegos

You know how you get super casual when you're old friends with someone? We had been discussing locations for this shoot weeks before so we could be sure to get all our shots before sundown and had two possible locations in mind. The day of I went to one and they went to the other. Oops. When they weren't on time as I knew they would be I scanned way back through our last conversation and discovered my mistake. Thankfully they were just a few minutes down the road. They were super understanding and we still got our beautiful evening light. Whew! Brenda is another photographer in town but I know her from our community theater days when her daughter was involved in shows. Of course knowing their family's love for musical theater I had to make them link arms and dance during part of the shoot.

I met this family for the first time at their shoot. I brought my ten year old niece along to assist and she was pretty happy to discover we were shooting a ten year old boy. When we were posing in front of the paddle adventure rental building a man came up and asked if he could get to the door behind us. Of course we obliged and of course I couldn't help but ask if we could come in and do some pics inside. He said yes! The lighting was a dream in there as it was outside at the end as we walked down the beach and the sun headed down.

I feel so lucky to shoot this family every year. This year we went for very Christmasy photos with everyone in their jammies. Although we took a few by the tree and fireplace too these simple ones on their couch are my favorites.

Family ~ Harrell

I had such a pleasant evening hanging out on the beach waiting for sunset with this family. They were super easy going and made fun a priority for the kids even though they were all dressed up for photos. It's not easy to get so many little ones looking where you want but mini marshmallows helped motivate them to at least stay in the frame most of the time. 

Although it's a little nerve-wracking to shoot a fellow photographer it's also a huge honer to be asked; especially by such an awesome one as Julie who I was thrilled to have take my girls' newborn photos over three years ago.

Family ~ Jenkins

Naomi is a classmate of mine and her husband decided to gift her a family photo session with me for Christmas. These are their first official family photos since their oldest was a toddler! After it looked like Summer was wrapping up last week suddenly it came back again in full force so we took advantage and headed to the water. What a fun night with a fun family!

Family ~ Alsum

It was fun being sneaky as we put together this family shoot as a surprise for their parents. The oldest sister was living out of state with her new husband and the younger sister was about to be married. We were originally just going to do a sister shoot with them but then thought it would be a great opportunity to add their baby brother in too. Check out my Facebook page for a photo they took of their parents holding the framed prints shortly after opening them. I'm so glad I got to be a part of the surprise! After we finished snapping these photos we did the sister shoot we'd originally planned.

Family ~ Stephan

Kim is a classmate of mine and Bo a classmate of my assistant. They have the two cutest little girls who made me laugh the entire shoot with all of their silly poses. I was so thankful they were up for hanging out by the bay as the sun set and even though the girls were clearly tired by the end, they just snuggled in and cuddled with their parents all the way back to their car. I love sunny Fall shoots!
